Single-molecule force spectroscopy study of interaction between transforming growth factor [beta]1 and its receptor in living cells
Article Abstract:
Single-molecule force microscopy is used for examining the interaction between transforming growth factor [beta]1 (TGF-[beta]1) and its receptors in living cells. The results have described a stable binding of TGF-[beta]1 with the receptor after TGF-[beta] type I receptor (T[beta]RI) is recruited and the contribution of T[beta]RI to the signaling complex formation during TGF-[beta]1 signaling.

Phased fiber growth in a peptide conjugate: Aggregation and disaggregation studies
Article Abstract:
A glycine-rich, short pentapeptide conjugate is derived from the highly conserved copper-binding octarepeat region of the prion proteins and has displayed a tendency to self-aggregate in a time-dependent fashion. The results have shown that the antimitotic agent colchicine has afforded disaggregation of aged peptide conjugate solutions.

Close contacts between carbonyl oxygen atoms and aromatic centers in protein structures: [pi]...[pi] or lone-pair...[pi] interactions?
Article Abstract:
The systematic analysis of high-resolution protein structures which identified geometry of carbonyl oxygen and aromatic centers with [pi]...[pi] and a lone pair...[pi] interaction that could play a stabilizing role in protein secondary structures is demonstrated.
